The obverse design features a dramatic representation of the Statue of Liberty in profile with the inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “$1.” The reverse design features George Washington’s signature and the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “AMERICAN INNOVATORS,” and “SIGNED FIRST PATENT.” The stylized gears represent industry and innovation.
